Palazzo Coppini in Florence was the stage for an extraordinary event: the opening of the “The World in Florence” festival, which celebrated the beauty of cultural diversity. This annual festival, sponsored by Fondazione Romualdo Del Bianco and the Life Beyond Tourism movement, has become a well-established event. In its fourth edition, it continued its journey towards a more united world, more aware of its traditions.
On November 11, 2024, the festival opened its doors with an event focused on creating a global dialogue, inviting people from every corner of the world to share stories, traditions, and unique experiences. Intercultural dialogue is at the heart of the project, aiming to promote peace and mutual understanding.
The morning, a Palazzo Coppini, began with a conference titled “The Council of Europe Itineraries Cross Tuscany” , which featured renowned experts, including Alberotanza Roberta, organizer of the ECHE Lab project at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, and Bouchenaki Mounir, UNESCO consultant and Honorary President of the Fondazione Romualdo Del Bianco. Simona Messina, Manager of the Transhumance Trails in Italy, and Emanuela Panke, President of Iter Vitis, the wine route, also participated, with wine tourism as a form of cultural tourism.
The speakers highlighted the value of preserving and enhancing local traditions, as well as the importance of cultural paths that unite and enrich communities. A key topic discussed was how the Council of Europe itineraries could cross Tuscany, creating a positive impact on both local and global culture.
In the afternoon, the event moved to the Auditorium al Duomo, but the true magic unfolded in the evening at Palazzo Coppini, where the atmosphere transformed into an extraordinary tasting experience. Attendees were invited on a sensory journey through the flavors of the World, with traditional vegetarian dishes and delicious desserts prepared by the communities involved in the festival. It was a unique opportunity to share not only food but also moments of friendship, rediscovering diversity and creating deeper connections among participants.
The “The World in Florence” Festival once again proved that intercultural dialogue is nourished not only by words but also by music, food, and traditions. It is through events like this that we can build bridges between different cultures and promote a more inclusive world, where peace and mutual understanding are the beating heart of our daily interactions.
